I haven't posted much of late, but things are going well. Very busy with my freelance work ... keeping up with it thanks to careful planning, a great husband, and fabulous friends and relatives who come to help out. Kai has started sleeping longer, smiling more, outgrowing everything from furniture to clothes (off the charts of height and weight, the bruiser!). I'm blessed.
Kai and I have a ritual I call "Four Poems." Each day around 11 a.m. we sit down and I read him (obviously) four poems, and we talk briefly about what they meant and the images. He stares at the pages and flails around a bit on my lap. We are still on our first book, Jane Kenyon's Collected Poems. I started with this one because she is a favorite of mine and because the words are understandable and flow well, the images are natural and real. I'll post each book we read here.

I was reading to him the little baby books we have and the picture books I received at the shower and from friends, and I am sure we will get back to those, but for now the poetry is good for both of us. It gets me back into the thoughts and rhythms of a poet, helps me start thinking about new poems I would like to write. I hope I can find some time to start submitting again soon.
