An interesting post from Lori Cates Hand:

Learn Way Too Much About Your Neighbors From Their Yard-Sale Books

One of the first places I look when I go to a new house/apt. is the bookshelf. So important what they like and read! Now I'll have to check the neighbors, although our town sale day just went by.

I still feel bad about being such a voyeur and drawing such (possibly untrue) conclusions based on their books. But hey, they put them out there!

I'm adding your blog to my feeds, Amy. I also noticed that you are a Finn Brothers fan. Me too!

Hi Lori! I think of you as more of a neighborhood observer. :) I'm just glad people still read actual books!!

Thanks for adding my blog; I appreciate it. I read yours often. I do want to focus mine eventually on more of a freelance edit blog, but sometimes the all-around ones are okay too.

Oh yes, I've loved the Finns since their first MTV Split Enz video! My girlfriend and I had a dream of going to New Zealand, but it never happened. I saw them (finally!) in their Everybody is Here tour in Central Park about 3 years ago. So great. And you and I are both Sagittarius women who love Amelie! Yea!

I always beeline for the bookshelf too. The total absence of books would make me nervous.

This is what is so dang cool about the Internet--it brings together likeminded people who might never have met otherwise!

I got in on Split Enz a bit too late, but Crowded House led me back there eventually. I've seen CH live in 1991, 1993, and 1994, and Tim and Neil together in 1996 in Chicago. And me too--I still want to try to get to Te Awamutu at some point! :)
